On October 20th, 2004, Alexander Hersh was named a top prize winner of the Walter W. Naumburg International Cello Competition. The finals took place at Manhattan School of Music for a jury consisting of: David Geber (jury chair), Nicholas Mann, Steven Doane, Hannah Roberts, Clive Greensmith, Phillipe Muller, Thomas Demenga, and Bonnie Hampton.
